Charlie Carr, MD Dr. Carr enters his 14th year as the Dartmouth College Head Team Physician. This year he has also been appointed the Dartmouth College Director of Sports Medicine through the College Health Service. Dr. Carr's other appointments include Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Geisel School of Medicine and the Residency Program Director Dartmouth-Hitchcock Orthopaedics. He completed both his undergraduate (1979) and medical school (1981) education at Dartmouth College. His orthopaedic residency was completed at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in 1987. Dr. Carr joined the Dartmouth-Hitchcock staff in 1989. He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Subspecialty Certified in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. Dr. Carr is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, and the American Orthopaedic Association. In addition to Sports Medicine, his profession interests include arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Carr has worked as a team physician for the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA and also serves as Head Team Physician for two local high schools. Outside of the office, Dr. Carr's personal interests include skiing, snowboarding, golf, scuba diving, and spending time with his wife and 3 boys. |

Kristine Karlson, M.D. Dr. Karlson is a graduate of Williams College and the University of Connecticut Medical School, where she also completed a family medicine residency. After a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan, she came to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in 1997, where her practice is mixed between primary care and sports medicine. Dr Karlson joins us part time for non-operative orthopedic and medical care of athletes. She competed in the 1992 Olympics in rowing and continues to travel with the US national rowing team, including serving as a team physician to the 2008 US Olympic team. She and her husband Dave can be found Nordic skiing or cycling, depending on the season. |

Arthur Maerlender, Jr, Ph.D. Dr Maerlender works closely with our Sports Medicine staff as the Sports Neuropsychologist Consultant to Dartmouth College. Dr Maerlender received his PhD from the University of Notre Dame, and completed his fellowship in psychology at the Dartmouth Medical School. He is the Director of Pediatric Neuropsychological Services for the Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He also provides sports neuropsychology consultation to youth leagues, middle, and high schools, collegiate and professional teams, and does outpatient evaluations. Dr Maerlender is the Ivy League Consultant and Leader for Ivy League-Big 10 Sports Concussion Research Collaboration. He is the Chair of the New Hampshire Advisory Council for Sports Concussions and a Board Member of the Academy of Brain Injury Specialists, part of the Brain Injury Association of America. Dr Maerlender has an avid interest in brain injury research, and has published research articles in peer reviewed journals including Medicine and Science in Sport and Exercise, Neurology, and The Clinical Neuropsychologist. Other academic interests include learning disorders, developmental disabilities, and test development. Outside of the office, Dr Maerlender has spent time coaching men's rugby. He has worked closely with the Dartmouth men's rugby assisting with the freshmen and development programs. He has also coached at several other universities including the University of Notre Dame and St. Michael's College. |

Jeffrey Frechette Office 1: 603/646-1284 Jeff received a Bachelor of Science degree from West Chester State College and Master of Education degree from James Madison University. Jeff is beginning his 31st year at Dartmouth College. He has served as the Head Athletic Trainer since 1994. In addition to the administrative responsibilities of Head Athletic Trainer, Jeff works closely with the Men's Ice Hockey team, and also oversees the Men's and Women's Golf teams. He has recently completed courses in Functional Movement Screening, and Postural Restoration techniques. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association, and the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society. He is an avid golfer, frequently walking Hanover's course completing "safety checks" as part of his responsibility to the golf teams. Tracy Purcell Office 1: 603/646-2472 Tracy is in her 9th year on the Dartmouth athletic training staff. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree. She earned her Master of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied Health Education. She works with the men's and women's rowing programs as well as women's ice hockey. She enjoys the challenges provided by such different sports. Tracy’s professional interests include manual therapies such as muscle energy for the low back and ribs. Tracy has earned certification as a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner, and has recently completed Graston Technique Module 1. She also enjoys designing rehabs and working with modalities. She is also responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Sports Medicine website. She has varied interests outside of work, which include reading, gardening, and biking. Tracy and her husband Kevin enjoy spending free time at home with their two boisterous labs, Huey and Harley. |

Nicole Humann Office: 603/646-2472 Nicole earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Wisconsin Lutheran College. She focused on female athletes with eating disorders while studying for her Master of Science in Human Kinetics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. This is Nicole’s 8th year on the Dartmouth College athletic training staff. She works with Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving, and Men's Lacrosse. She also serves as a member of the College Health Services Eating Disorder Team. Nicole has pursued professional interests in soft tissue mobilization, and she enjoys designing sport-specific rehabs. Out of the office she has embraced the local winter sport, ice hockey. She also enjoys long walks on the beach and swimming with sharks. |

Michael Derosier Office: 603/646-9772 Michael is the Head Football Athletic Trainer, entering his 6th year here at Dartmouth. He is also working with the Equestrian team at Dartmouth after having spent the last five years with the Big Green Women's Basketball program. Prior to Dartmouth, he spent the previous 13 years in New Jersey: 1994-1998 (4 years) at Monmouth University and 1998-2007 (9 years) at Princeton. Michael became a Certified Athletic Trainer in February of 1992. He completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of New Hampshire in 1991, and completed graduate school with a Master of Science in Education degree from Old Dominion University in 1994. Professional interests include all manners of physical rehabilitation including Muscle Energy Technique and Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. Michael was Certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2004. He is also certified in Active Release Techniques (ART) for Lower Extremity (2005) and Upper Extremity (2006). He has recently completed certifications in Graston Technique (2009), Kinesio Taping (2010), Functional Movement Screening and Corrective Exercise (2011), and Myokinematic Restoration through the Postural Restoration Institute (2012). During the football season, Michael annually oversees two athletic training students as an Approved Clinical Instructor for the Colby-Sawyer College Exercise and Sports Sciences/Athletic Training Education Program. Personal interests include all manners of family time. In addition to being married to the former Lori Tarr of Concord, NH (UNH '93) who is a Reading Recovery Specialist in the Hartford, VT school district, Michael is also a father of 2 boys, Jacob (11 yrs old) and Matthew (8 yrs old). |

Nicole Scremin Office 1: 603/646-2472 Nicole earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Boise State University, where she also minored in French. She studied Clinical Exercise Psychology for her Master of Science degree at Northeastern University. This is Nicole’s fifth year at Dartmouth College. She works with the Women's Soccer, Women's Tennis and Women’s Lacrosse teams. In addition to her athletic training credentials, Nicole is also a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. She lives in Vermont with her husband, Anthony. In her free time, Nicole enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her newly adopted dog. |

Ashley Lammers Office 1: 603/646-9772 Ashley joined us from the University of Oregon, where she received her Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2010. She graduated from Ohio University in 2008, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree. She is in her third year on the Dartmouth Sports Medicine staff. Ashley is the assistant athletic trainer with Football. Her other sports assignments include, Men's and Women's Squash and Softball. She has many professional interests which include several manual therapy techniques such as strain-counterstrain, muscle energy, and functional movement screens. She is certified in Graston Technique, and recently became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Ashley enjoys many outdoor interests out of the office including hiking, biking, camping, and tubing on the river. At home she enjoys cooking and entertaining friends and family.

Caleb Crowell Office 1: 603/646-2472 Caleb is in his third year on the staff. He joined us from Ithaca College in New York, where he completed both his undergraduate and graduate work. He received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2008. He then went on to complete his Master of Science in Exercise Science with a concentration in Sports Psychology in 2010. During this time he also worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for Cornell University. Professional interests include manual therapies, and has recently completed the Graston Technique Module 1. At Dartmouth, Caleb is working with Men's Basketball, Men’s Tennis, and Mixed Sailing. A native of Cape Cod, Caleb worked with the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League as an athletic training student. He spends much of his free time on the Cape, helping to run a charter fishing boat during the summers. In addition to fishing, other interests include skiing and snowboarding. |

Meredith Cockerell Office 1: 603/646-2472 Meredith starts her third year on the Dartmouth Sports Medicine Staff. A transplant to New England, Meredith is originally from Texas. She joined us from St. Mary's College in San Antonio, TX, where she served as Head Athletic Trainer. Prior to that, she received her BA from Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX in 2006. She obtained her MS in 2008 from Michigan State University. Here at Dartmouth, Meredith works with the Field Hockey team and the Men's and Women's Track & Field teams. Professional interests include manual therapies and muscle energy techniques. Meredith is Graston M1 and M2 Certified. Outside of work, Meredith spends time walking her dog, Cooper. She also enjoys reading. |

Ben Schuler Office 1: 603/646-2472 Ben joins us from Troy University in Alabama, where he received his Master of Science in Sports and Fitness Management in the spring of 2011. Prior to that, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences-Athletic Training in 2009. He is in his second year here at Dartmouth. Ben is responsible for the coverage of the Men’s and Women’s Rugby teams, as well as the Skiing teams. Professional interests include concussion evaluation and management, as well as sport specific rehabilitation and functional testing. Outside of work, Ben enjoys reading, surfing, hiking, canoeing, and spending time with his dog, Pete. |

Yuriko Fujioka Office: 603/646-2472 Yuri is entering her first year at Dartmouth, having just completed an internship year at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. She has a diverse background in education, most recently earning her Master of Science in Athletic Training from Illinois State University in 2011. Prior to that she earned two undergraduate degrees, the first in 2006 in Tokyo, Japan, from Kokushikan University, where she studied Physical Education. After developing in an interest in Athletic Training, Yuri pursued her Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University, graduating in 2009. Yuri's professional interests include manual therapies, and she has completed the Graston Technique Module 1. She cannot live without Japanese rice. She also thrives on coffee and enjoys hunting for cozy, local coffee shops in her spare time. She looks forward to exploring this area and hiking, skiing, and snowboarding. |

Peter Tryon Office: 603-646-2472 Peter joins the staff this year from the Minnesota State University-Mankato, where he completed his Master of Arts in Sports Management in 2012. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training at the University of New Hampshire in 2008. Peter has spent athletic training internship years at both the University of Colorado-Boulder (2010) and the College of the Holy Cross (2009). At Dartmouth he will be working with the Men's Soccer and Baseball teams. His primary professional interest is in injury prevention through the advancement of pre-participation screenings to identify at-risk athletes. Peter is an avid outdoorsman. He enjoys hiking, fishing, and snowboarding. |

Jessica Duffy Office: 603/646-9419 Jessica joined the Sports Medicine Team as their Administrative Assistant in April, 2012. Her background with other medical providers includes six years at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for the Orthopaedic Surgery team, preceded by four years at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa for the Vascular Technology team. Jessica has never been much of an athlete. She does, however, enjoy going for hikes and picnics with her husband and daughter. Jessica does a great deal of gardening, excels at baking, and is an enthusiastic hockey fan. |
