About the Department
The Inpatient Department (IPD) is a ten-bed infirmary/hospital unit located
on the second floor of Dick's House. Our staff is dedicated to the provision of
quality health care and education in a setting which offers the least
interruption in your academic program. Although the reason for your inpatient
stay is strictly confidential, whenver appropriate, we encourage you to contact
your parents and professors/deans.
IPD Providers
- Physicians (MD)
- Registered Nurses (RN)
- Registered Nurses with college health certification (RN-C)
- Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)
The IPD is staffed with two nurses per shift. A Health Service physician and
counselor are available either on-site or on-call AT ALL
TIMES.
Our Services
- Overnight infirmary/observation/hospital stays
- After Hours Care (nights and weekends) - Available during Fall, Winter,
and Spring Terms; nursing care and telephone advice when the Primary Care
& Preventive medicine and the Counseling and Human Development departments
are closed.
- Blood tests - Nurses draw blood for students (for blood testing off-site),
whether ordered by a health Service or local provider.
