MINUTES FROM GSA'S FLOOR TIME DURING TONIGHT'S (11/08) STUDENT ASSEMBLY MEETING
**After distributing copies of the "GSA Official Position on ROTC" to members of the Student Assembly, Jamal and Sean approached the floor to present and summarize the statement.
**Jamal read off Dartmouth's equal opportunity clause and declared that the presence of the ROTC on campus violates this clause due to it's affiliation with the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.
**After summarizing the statement, Jamal and Sean declared the goal of the statement, i.e., that the college will remove any and all inherent endorsement of the ROTC on campus without getting rid of scholarships funded by the ROTC. Brown is cited as an example of a college that disassociated itself from ROTC while still allowing student scholarships funded by the program to stand.
**To conclude, Jamal and Sean requested that the SA consider the statement carefully and aid GSA in the fight to disassociate the college from the program: "Basically, the policy is inherently discriminatory, and nothing has been done on this campus to resolve the issue."
