Ethics Panel 6:30 - 8:30pm, Aine Donavan, Executive Director of Dartmouth's Ethics Institute, will facilitate an interactive discussion incorporating scenes from Robert Martin's play "Stampede of Zebras." The play focuses on a devastating case of scientific misconduct and its aftermath. Please make sure that you have read the play before the panel. First Year Health Service Orientation, 9:00 - 11:00 am, Dick's House, 7 Rope Ferry Road. Immunizations and Pre-matriculation Medical Information Check. Health Services will hold a pre-matriculation immunization clinic for First Year Graduate Students. This is the time to meet with a member of the Medical Records staff to resolve any outstanding issues regarding medical information and immunizations. Required immunizations will be available. WEDNESDAY, October 3rd
DCAL Reception, 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Dartmouth Center for the Advancement of Learning located at 102 Baker-Berry Library. Please join us for a wine and cheese reception at DCAL! We'd like you to meet the new DCAL Associate Director for Professional Development Programs, Cindy Tobery. In this newly-created position Cindy will assume responsibility for DCAL's programs for graduate students and post-doc instructors in Arts and Sciences and Engineering. She is looking forward to collaborating with people across campus to develop new programs related to teaching and welcomes your ideas.
Cindy comes to Dartmouth from Yale University where she was Director of Programs and Projects for Yale's Women Faculty Forum. She has also done similar professional development programming and research for Hunter College where she taught a course in psychology. Cindy holds a PhD in molecular biology from Princeton where she also taught as a graduate assistant. While at Princeton, Cindy spent two years working in the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning where she developed and led programs for new and aspiring teachers. First-Year Arts and Sciences Graduate Student Dinner, time 6PM, at the Dartmouth Outing Club House (at the end of Rope Ferry Road, Next to the Golf Course).
First-Year Welcome Dinner: The Graduate Student Council invites all the first-year graduate students to a welcome dinner at the DOC House on Sunday Sept. 23 at 6PM. Come receive your first-year student gifts from the GSC, enjoy some food from Gusano's Restaurant, a local favorite, and play some Dartmouth trivia!
