If you are looking for cheap rent, included heat, and a nice place, look here! I'm looking for someone to share my apartment for the next year (starting in June). The rent is $450/person a month, and utilities are minimal (around $60 a month for electric, cable, and internet). Its a very convenient location, just off of 120 in Lebanon, a few miles from DHMC and Centerra. These townhomes were designed for medical students and graduate students, in terms of layout, room size, features, location, and cost. They were built and subsidized by a Dartmouth grad school (physics) alum who wanted to provide affordable and very nice (non dorm-like) grad student housing.
Of the 8 units in this particular complex, 7 are filled with medical students, residents, Master of Public Health, Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, Thayer Engineering, and Biochemistry graduate students. We are expecting all of them to fill with graduate students of the various programs. They have large bedrooms, including a double bed, desk, chair and chest of drawers, large closets, big windows, hardwood floors, high ceilings, ceiling fans & lights, and are brand new and high end two story townhomes. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, full bath with washer/dryer. Downstairs is living room, kitchen/dining area, and another bedroom and full bath. The furnishings can be removed or kept, or any portion can be kept. We have a warehouse for that stuff because we currently house over 189 Dartmouth students in several buildings in Hanover and Lebanon.
The units are 5 miles from campus and 2 miles from the hospital on the bike route. There is a free bus that leaves from 2 doors down from the complex to the hospital and on to the campus, so it is ideally located. The building that was in this spot before was usually rented to Medical and Tuck students too.
