GAANN Fellowship at Dartmouth

 

What is GAANN?

GAANN is the acronym for Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need.

What is GAANN's purpose?

The GAANN program provides fellowships to graduate students with excellent records who demonstrate a financial need. Students must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and planning to pursue the highest degree available in a field designated as an area of national need.  Areas of national need include: Biology, Chemistry, Computer and Information Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics and Astronomy.

GAANN fellowships are available at Dartmouth only to students in their first year of study.  Award stipends may be up to $27,000 for the first year, plus health benefits and professional travel allowance. For the second through fifth years of study, all students will be supported by Dartmouth Fellowships or Research Assistantships from other sponsored programs, which provide full tuition and a living stipend of $23,832 for the 2009-2010 academic year.  Minorities and women are especially encouraged to apply. Dartmouth programs that provide GAANN fellowships: Biological Sciences, Mathematics,  and Physics and Astronomy.
