Applying for Federal Financial Aid for the 2008-2009 Academic Year |
|
Federal financial aid programs are available to US citizens enrolled at least half-time and making satisfactory progress in a degree program. Federal financial aid to graduate students is available through the Federal Stafford Student Loan program, the Federal Perkins loan program, and the Federal Work-study program. The Dartmouth College Graduate Student Financial Aid form must be completed to notify us of your intention to apply for financial aid. Download the 2008-2009 Graduate Student Financial Aid form here: Graduate Financial Aid Application and a copy of the Graduate Financial Aid Brochure. All students who wish to apply for federal financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1 of the year you plan enrollment (i.e., after 1/1/2008 for the 2008-2009 academic period). This form must be completed each year. Graduate students may renew their applications starting 1/1/2008 at the following website http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you have access to the Internet, you can complete the FAFSA on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Dartmouth's school code is 002573. The FAFSA form does have a signature requirement. If you have been issued a Personal Identification Number (PIN) this number can be used to sign your FAFSA form. You can apply for a PIN on line at www.PIN.ed.gov. Your PIN number can be used to access your FAFSA and to check on your Federal loans. If you do not use a PIN to sign your FAFSA form and want to file the form on line, be sure to print the signature page, sign and mail it according to the instructions provided.
