The typical graduate program is a small, personalized unit of faculty and students. Close research collaboration and instruction at the seminar level predominate. Dartmouth has made important changes in order that graduate students avoid over-specialization and develop a general competence in several areas within the discipline before proceeding to thesis research.

Dartmouth graduate students are enrolled in 16 programs leading to the PhD, 3 specialized programs, and 7 masters programs. See a full list of Dartmouth Graduate Programs.
