The first phospha-aza-allene metal complex, Cp'2Nb(Cl)[h2-(N,C)-PhNCPMes*] {3, Cp' = C5H4SiMe3; Mes* = 2,4,6-(t-Bu)3C6H2} was prepared from Cp'2NbCl and the cumulene. Spectroscopic and crystallographic characterization of 3 and some transformations of the complexed phospha-aza-allene are described.
