2. Dr. Ivan Kovacik (post-doc, 1997-1999, from Australian National University). Now at Pharm-Eco Labs (now Johnson Matthey Pharma Services) in MA.
3. Dr. Yi Han (post-doc, 2000-2001, from Columbia University). Now back in NY.
4. Dr. Tim Brunker (post-doc, from University of Oxford, England). Tim taught at Holy Cross, Worcester, MA, then Boston University, and in fall 2008 begins a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at Towson University (Maryland). 5. Dr. Liliana Miinea (materials post-doc, from University of Houston) is now at Mallinckrodt Baker in New Jersey.
6. Dr. Marites Guino-o (post-doc, from Karin Ruhlandt-Senge's group @Syracuse University), now teaching at Oberlin College, Ohio. Moving in summer 2010 to a tenure-track position at University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Here's her new home page, 2011.
1. Dr. Igor Kourkine (Ph.D. 1997, from
St. Petersburg Institute of Technology, Russia). Igor did a
postdoc with Chad
Mirkin at Northwestern
University, Evanston, Illinois, worked in biotech with Annelise
Barron in the Chemical
Engineering Department at Northwestern, and is now associate
director of Northwestern's Master
of Biotechnology program.
2. Dr. Denyce Wicht (Ph.D. 1999, from University of Vermont). After a postdoc with Dick Schrock at MIT, Cambridge Massachusetts, Denyce moved to General Electric in New York and is now (2005) an assistant professor at Suffolk University in Boston. Denyce received tenure in 2011!
3. Dr. Michael Zhuravel (Ph.D. 2000,
from St. Petersburg Institute of Technology, Russia). Michael
did a postdoc with SonBinh
Nguyen at Northwestern and
was also a postdoc in the Materials
Science department there.
As of 2004 he's got a real job at Dendritic
Nanotechnologies in
Michigan. When that company died, he moved back to
Northwestern for more postdoc (2011).
4. Liz Pelczar (M.S. 2001, from
University of Hartford, Connecticut). Liz got her Ph.D. at
Rutgers with Alan
Goldman and
moved on to UNC-Chapel Hill for a postdoc with Michel
Gagne, then got a job at Innophos in NJ.
5. Dr. Jill Moncarz (Ph.D. 2001, from McGill University, Canada). Jill was a profesor at Marietta College in Ohio, then (summer 2003) at Penn, and (2004) is now at DuPont, Wilmington DE.
6. Dr. Diana Stefanescu (Ph.D. 2004, from Bucharest Polytechnic, Romania) did a postdoc with Chris Gorman at NC State, then a postdoc at CalTech with Janet Hering in the Environmental Sciences/Engineering department. As of May 2007, she has a real job at Air Liquide in Delaware. Now (2011) a research associate and instructor at Penn State, where she moved when her husband got a job there.
7. Dr. Natalia Blank (Ph.D. 2005), from
Novgorod State U., Russia) is an assistant professor at Norwich
University in Vermont
(start 2006). Update 2011: Natalia has been promoted to
associate professor with tenure!
8. Dr. Corina Scriban (Ph.D. 2006), from University of Bucharest, started a postdoc with Dick Schrock at MIT in summer 2006. In 2008 she moved to Heidelberg, Germany, at CARLA, and moved to Cambridge England, 2010, to Johnson Matthey Catalysis and Chiral Technologies
9. Dr. Brian Anderson (Ph.D. 2008),
from Skidmore College, NY, did a postdoc with Matt Sigman at
the University of Utah, and is now (2009-10) a visiting
professor at St.
Lawrence University (NY).
Update! In 2011 Brian will begin as an assistant professor at
Keene State
College, back here in New Hampshire!
10. Dr. Tim Chapp (Ph.D. 2010), from
St. Lawrence University, NY, is now a visiting assistant
professor at Hamilton
College, NY.
Tiffany Simons (2010-2011) from Ramapo
College, NJ, spent one year at Dartmouth and is now back in
NJ, seeking jobs as a high school teacher.
11. Dr. Matt Cain (Ph.D. 2011, from SUNY Geneseo), is a
postdoc with Dick Schrock at MIT, starting January 2012.
1. Michael Chapman (B.A. 1993). Mike escaped from New Jersey and is now developing software for the gamma spectroscopy market at Canberra Industries in Meriden, CT. He's also a part-time student at Rensselaer's Hartford branch working towards a master's in computer science.
2. John Alexander (B.A. 1995). John received his Ph.D. from MIT with Dick Schrock (June 1999) and after a postdoc at Cornell with Geoff Coates, he is working in patent law in Boston.
3. Sara Paisner (B.A.
1996). Sara got her Ph.D. with Bob
Bergman at
UC Berkeley, did a postdoc with Joe
DeSimone
at UNC-Chapel Hill, worked at GE, Niskayuna, NY, then went
back to NC at Lord Corporation, before setting up her own consulting business.
4. Ron Gregush (B.A. 1997). Now in medical school at Washington University, St. Louis.
5. Matt Sargent (B. A. 1997). An art history grad student at Georgetown, Matt also worked in their chemistry department. Next, he will be a Ph.D. history student at Berkeley.
6. Navrose Grewal (B. A. 1999). Now in medical school at UCLA.
7. Michael Orchowski (B.A. '00) Mike got a job at Unilever in New Jersey, and will start law school in 2004.
8. Jeff Zimpleman (B. A. '00) was a grad student at Scripps with Dale Boger.
9. Matt Colman
(Dartmouth '01) was a consultant at the Parthenon group in Boston and started
medical school at U. Chicago in 2003. Update 2010: Matt
is now a resident at U Pittsburgh Medical School in orthopedic
surgery.
10. Emily Nytko
(Dartmouth '01) started grad school at MIT in 2003 with Dan
Nocera.
She is the happy recipient of an NSF graduate
fellowship! After MIT, she worked on patents in
Washington DC and in 2011 is doing patents in London at
Keltie, like this.
11. Hillary Dunlevy
(Dartmouth '01) was in Africa with the Peace Corps! Medical
school back in Ohio (University of Cincinnati) is next; as of
2011 Hillary is at Penn for her residency.
12. Rachel Garaas
(Dartmouth '02) was at General Electric in NY. Next stop,
dental school at Harvard (2005). As of 2011, Rachel is a
dentist and oral surgeon in North Carolina.
13. Yoji Kobayashi
(Dartmouth '01) started grad school at Penn State with Tom
Mallouk in
2003. Next (2007), a postdoc with Jeff Long at UC
Berkeley. As of 2011, Yoji
is an assistant professor at Kyoto University, Japan.
14. David Lincoln
(Dartmouth '02) learned about nuclear reactors, courtesy of
the US Navy, and now (2007) is going to law school.
15. John Jewett (Dartmouth '03) is a graduate student with Viresh Rawal at U. Chicago. Next (2007), a postdoc with Carolyn Bertozzi @ Berkeley. In 2011, John starts his new job as an assistant professor at Arizona.
16. Chad Dooley (Dartmouth '04) was a grad student with Shana Kelley at Boston College and got his Ph.D. in 2009. After a postdoc at Wisconsin, he is now (2011) a proud father and working at a company in Attleboro, Mass.
17. Omar Amir
(Dartmouth '04) is an MPH student at Harvard. Check out his
earthquake relief work in Pakistan here. Now at Stanford
medical school.
18. K.C. McBroom (Dartmouth '05) will go to vet school and get a Ph.D at Colorado State.
19. Mitch Pet (Dartmouth '07) is in medical school at Washington U, St. Louis. As of 2011, his next stop is Washington state, for a residency at UW, Seattle, in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
20. Alex Rupert
(Dartmouth '07) stayed here for the 2007 summer (Tuck Business
Bridge program), and worked at JP Morgan in NYC (before the
recession stopped that). Where are you now Alex?
