Foster McGaw Vail 1978 Fellowship

Thuluvancheri K. Mohandas, Ph.D., Professor of Pathology and Genetics, has been selected as the second recipient of the Foster McGaw Vail 1978 Fellowship. This fellowship, created in the memory of Foster McGaw Vail, is intended to support the preservation of clinical teaching time by leading medical faculty.

National Institutes of Health

Victor R. Ambros, Ph.D., Professor of Genetics, has been awarded a four year grant entitled, "Genetic Control of Animal Development."

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease

Jason H. Moore, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Genetics, has been awarded a five year grant entitled "Bioinformatics Strategies for Biodefense Vaccine Research."

National Institute of Child Health and Human Development

Jason H. Moore, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Genetics, has been awarded a five year grant entitled "Genetic Basis of Trauma Recovery."

The V Foundation for Cancer Research

Michael Whitfield, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Genetics, has been named a V Foundation Scholar and a grant for his project, "Genome-wide Programs of Cell Growth and Division."

PEW Latin American Fellow

Luis F. Larrondo, Ph.D., Research Associate in the Dunlap/Loros lab, has been selected to be a 2004 PEW Latin American Fellow in the Biomedical Sciences. This award is to assist Dr. Larrondo in his pursuit of innovative lines of scientific inquiry, both during his time in the United States and after establishing a laboratory in his homeland, Chile.

National Research Service Award

William Belden, Ph.D., a Research Associate in the Dunlap lab, has been awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the National Institutes of Health. The three year award is entitled, "Role of Chromatin Remodeling in Circadian Regulation."

Scleroderma Research Foundation

Michael Whitfield, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Genetics, has been awarded funding for his project, "A Gene Expression Map of Scleroderma."

National Academies Keck Futures Initiative Signalling Grant

Jay Dunlap, Ph.D., to support Christian Hong, Ph.D., who will be working on the project entitled "Existence of Autocatalysis Based on FRQ Protein Proteolysis and Stabilization in Neurospora Crassa."

National Institute of General Medical Sciences

Victor Ambros, Ph.D., Professor of Genetics, awarded a four year grant entitled, "Functional Analysis of microRNA Genes in Drosophilia."

National Institute of General Medical Sciences - Program Project

Jay Dunlap, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of Genetics, awarded a five year program project grant entitled, "Functional Analysis of a Model Filamentous Fungus."

National Research Service Award

Maria Ow, Ph.D., a Research Associate in the Ambros lab, has been awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the National Institutes of Health. The three year award is entitled, "Regulation of Lin-4 Expression in Caenorhabditis elegans."

National Institute of General Medical Sciences

Barbara Conradt, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Genetics, has been awarded a five year grant entitled, "Analysis of Cell Death Regulation in C. elegans."

ACS Institutional Research Grant

Yashi Ahmed, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Genetics, has received an American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant from the Norris Cotton Cancer Center entitled, "Regulation of Wnt Signal Transduction by the APC Tumor Suppressor."

ACS Institutional Research Grant

Michael Whitfield, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Genetics, was awarded an American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant from Norris Cotton Cancer Center entitled "Cell-type Specific Gene Expression and Function Studies of the Human Cell Division Cycle."
