Chem 6

9 section

course information

  • Click here for a PDF document with logistical details for the class, including how the Honor Principle (see below) applies to Chem 6.
  •
  • Look here for more information on the lab portion of the class.
  •
  • Read this about the Dartmouth Academic Honor Principle. Please ask me if you have any questions about the Honor Principle and how it applies to Chem 6 (see the PDF above and a similar document on the GenChem website, here).
  •
  • In particular, you should be aware that the Honor Principle is a two-way agreement: you agree, by enrolling in Dartmouth, to uphold it, and I agree, by accepting employment on the Dartmouth Faculty, to enforce it. The link above to the Honor Principle states my duties as a faculty member. Read them. I will follow them if need be. Bottom line: a failing grade is always preferable to a trip before the Committee on Standards. Don't screw up.
  •
  • Many of you will take organic chemistry, starting with Chem 51 (or 57) next year. Chem 6 course material is relevant and useful to organic chemistry. Really! Click here [a page from the Chem 51 website] to see what you should be learning in Chem 6 (so you can use it in Chem 51, in other courses, or just for fun).
