IB (International Baccalaureate) Chart

Department Guidelines for International Baccalaureate (IB) Work
Individual academic departments at Dartmouth view IB work differently and should be contacted directly regarding credit and placement requests. In some cases, students who have achieved scores of 6 or 7 on Higher Level IB examinations may receive specified credit in place of, not in addition to, the general IB credit awarded. Various departments' guidelines are listed below:

Subject	Course Credit or Exemption
Economics	Credit for Economics 1.
French Language A Language B	Consult department chair; invitation to take Dartmouth Advanced Reading Test (DART) for possible French 10 credit. Consult department chair; invitation to take Dartmouth Advanced Reading Test (DART) for possible French 10 credit and the Advanced Proficiency Exam (APE) for possible French 8 exemption.
German Language A or B	Consult the department chair regarding placement and credit
Mathematics	Credit for Math 3 and placement into Math 8; invitation to take department test for possible Math 8 credit.
Philosophy	Credit for Philosophy 1.
Physics	Invitation to take department tests for possible Physics 3 and 4 or 13 and 14 credits in place of unspecified credit.
Russian	For a score of 6, credit for Russian 28; for a score of 7, credit for Russian 28 and 29; consult chair regarding placement.
Spanish Language A or B	Spanish 9 credit.
