Failure

Initially, if you fail a course in any given term (and if it's your first grade below C-), you will be placed on Academic Warning. In the succeeding term of enrollment you will be required to earn three credits with grades of C- or better to return to Good Academic Standing. However, a continuation of unsatisfactory scholarship will place your academic career in jeopardy.

If you fail a course, among the first things you should do is to evaluate the factors that may have affected your performance in the class. You should also speak with your faculty adviser and class dean to discuss strategies to return to Good Academic Standing and, more importantly, to discuss strategies to prevent reoccurrence in the future.

Academic Warning carries a number of consequences. The action is recorded in your file in the Dean of the College's Office, but not on your academic records or transcripts (however, the failing grade is recorded). A notification letter may also be sent to your parents or guardians; and, you will not be allowed to elect the Non-Recording Option during your next term in residence.
