First-Year Class Council

The First-Year Class Council acts as a representative body for the first-year class. Through an election held in the fall, representatives to the Council are elected within each residence hall. These representatives meet as a council weekly during the year "to promote the interests of the first-year class and to facilitate the transition of class members into the Dartmouth community." Past councils have sponsored first-year social activities, worked to form a more cohesive class, secured representation on College committees, and recommended the alteration of some first-year regulations. A committee of the council organizes First-Year Family Weekend for parents and friends in the spring.
