Welcome Parents and Families Class Of 2012!
Join us on move in day, Tuesday, September 16th for Parent and Family Orientation. Visit the check-in tent to pick up your schedule and to meet members of the First Year Office Staff. At the tent, we'll be happy to answer questions and you can pick up area maps, sports schedules and information and coupons from the Hanover Chamber of Commerce. We will offer various campus tours in the morning and orientation sessions in the afternoon to introduce you to Dartmouth. More extensive family programs will be offered during First-Year Family Weekend, April 24-26, 2009.

Family Orientation Program Preview (subject to change):
Orientation Welcome Tent (9 a.m. to 3 p.m) -- Stop by to have questions answered or to pick up an area map, sports schedules, and coupons from the Hanover Chamber of Commerce. Students pick up room keys, Orientation schedules and student handbooks here.
Sustainable Move-In Sale -- Are you in the market for a mini fridge, storage containers, decorations, rugs, school supplies and much more? Stop by Collis Common Ground to get the best deal on reused goods to stock your room for the long year ahead.
Campus Tours (morning) --
Introduction to the Special Collections Library: This 30 minute tour will introduce you to the Rauner Special Collections Library. Rauner houses the College’s manuscripts and rare books, as well as the College Archives. Holdings include Daniel Webster’s copy of Audubon’s Birds of America, extensive theater and music collections and much more.
Campus Walking Tour: Join Admissions Office tour guides as they acquaint you with our campus and student life in a one-hour walking tour.
Hood Museum of Art: Recognized by the American Association of Museums as “a national model”, the Hood Museum of Art is one of the oldest and largest college museums in the country, housing an outstanding collection of works of art and artifacts. This hour long tour will introduce you to the museum’s permanent collections.
"Lest the Old Traditions Fail" (late morning) -- Learn about the history and traditions of Dartmouth in an informative and entertaining show.
Class of 2012 Family Lunch -- Dartmouth Dining Services invites families to join them for lunch in Thayer dining hall from 11:00am - 2:00p.m. Sample some of the dishes your student will be enjoying this year.
Class of 2012 Family Welcome (early afternoon) -- Join Gail Zimmerman, Dean of First-Year Students and President James Wright as they welcome you to Dartmouth.
“So, now you’re the parent of a Dartmouth student!” (early afternoon)-- This is your opportunity to meet Dean of the College Tom Crady. Dean Crady will speak about what you should expect during your student’s transition to Dartmouth, and what the institution expects of your student as a member of the Dartmouth community.
Information Sessions (all afternoon) -- Concurrent sessions will include panel discussions with upper-class students, an introduction to Dartmouth’s curriculum and academic support services, tips on navigating the Dartmouth web and more.

Family Orientation Reception -- There is no better way to leave the campus than to reward a job well done with a little lemonade and Dining Service's own (legendary!) Pavilion cookies.
