Major: French with Chemistry Minor
Current Work and Impact of French Major: I spent the summer of 2004 teaching French for the Rassias Summer Language Program in Arles, France, after which I moved to Boston and worked for two years doing clinical cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. I returned to Dartmouth to earn an MPH in 2007, then worked in research at Dartmouth-Hitchcock for a year. During that time, I had the good fortune of being sent to Paris to attend a meeting concerning a new drug trial.
Currently, I live on Long Island with my husband, whom I married in June 2010. I am in my third year of medical school at Stony Brook University, and am planning to pursue a career in pediatric oncology. Aside from vacations to France, Belgium, and Quebec City, I do not get the chance to speak French as often as I would like. However, I do occasionally encounter French-speaking patients, which is always a treat.
