Package Distribution

Parcels and packages shipped to students are received at the Hinman Post Office for distribution. The packages are placed in secure storage and a notice with the date and time of receipt is placed in the student's post office box. The notice requests students to pick up their packages at their earliest convenience. During the first three weeks of the fall term and the first two weeks of the other terms, the Hinman Post Office extends their operational hours with weekend and evening pick up hours available for convenience.

Limited storage space and the possibility of loss or damage to packages stored for extended periods forces the Hinman Post Office staff to return all packages to the sender that are not picked up within 15 days after receipt of notice. International packages and packages received before the beginning of the term will be returned 15 days after the student has acknowledged that the packages have been received and are in storage.

Students wishing to send belongings, including trunks, in advance of their arrival should address items to themselves, c/o their Hinman Box address, Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire 03755 (plus four-digit number that will be given to them). Boxes will be available beginning September 5. Please plan shipments accordingly. Shipment may be made by U.S. mail or by a shipping company such as Airborne, United Parcel Service, or Federal Express, so long as the shipment meets the companies' limits on the size and weight of packages that can be handled. If the company requests a "street address" for delivery, add the following information to the address: Hinman Post Office, Hopkins Center, Lebanon & Wheelock Streets.
