Trash Collection Service

All College trash is collected by building Custodians and conveyed to the nearest compactor. The compactors are emptied at the Lebanon Landfill (currently), and must meet Lebanon regulations. Trash may not contain wood, metal, cement, bricks, or plaster. These items must be disposed of separately by calling the Work Control Center at 646-2508. Be aware that trash removal requires manual labor by handling and lifting. There have been numerous injuries to personnel through contact with sharp objects placed in the trash. If you have a special problem concerning trash disposal, please call the Custodial Services department at 646-2485.

Personal (home) trash is not allowed in the College system, since the cost of disposal is time consuming and costly. All personal trash found in College buildings or around compactors will be identified, if possible, and returned to the responsible party.

Recycling is strongly encouraged by the College. Please use the collection bins for aluminum cans and other recyclables. These materials are turned in separately to collection agencies, earning money to offset collection costs and reducing landfill charges. For information regarding the recycling program, please see the Dartmouth Recycles! Web Page, or call 646-2485.
