Wetlands Monitoring with MODIS and QuikSCAT

QuikSCAT data are processed by Son V. Nghiem at Caltech-JPL with NASA support. The method utilizes the larger surface water reflectivity of horizontal compared to vertical polarization radar measured by the NASA QuikSCAT satellite. QuikSCAT obtains global coverage every 2.5 days. At Dartmouth, we average the processed polarization ratio data over 7 day periods (Sunday though Saturday) to produce weekly surface water anomalies.
