(1) 14 Day Precipitation History

TRMM TMI Quick Look Images, subsetted at Dartmouth from global mosaics prepared by Chris Kidd, NASA-Goddard Space Flight Center

Comments:

TRMM TMI data show heavy precipitation in Tabasco on October 18 and October 20-22. Many rivers were already in flood stage at that time due to earlier heavy rains (see DFO1999-079). Floodgates to the Penitas Dam were opened on October 23 to save the dam; large-scale flooding downstream ensued. Rivers began receding in Tabasco State on October 28.

In these images:

Rainfall and snowfall: yellow and white areas (yellowish white is highest intensity precipitation)

Oceans: light blue (low water vapour) to dark blue (high water vapour)
