Finance Centers News

  • The new OnBase request system is rolling out to all finance center customers.  The roll out is phased with the anticipation that all departments will be using the system as of March 31, 2015.  Check with your finance center for specific dates.
  • Change in Travel Reimbursement - domestic per diem rates: The IRS is no longer updating the high/low per diem rates allowed under Dartmouth's Business Expense Policy.  Effective September 1, 2014, Dartmouth Business Expense Policy has been updated to reflect the following change.  For U.S. travel meals and incidental expenses, Dartmouth allows use of the GSA per diem rates found at the GSA Per Diem Rates Website.

The Dartmouth College finance centers are highly skilled service units organized to manage Dartmouth's financial transactions for divisions and departments in support of Finance and Administration's Mission.

Who we are

The finance centers are organized into five separate centers to support Dartmouth College divisions and departments.

Each finance center offers a core set of services including the transactional processing and reporting for:

  • Payroll
  • Accounts Payable
  • Procurement Services
  • Accounting
  • Financial Reporting

Some Finance Centers may provide additional services based on the needs of the division and departments.

The finance centers continually look for ways to improve their processes and service. We welcome your feedback and ideas. Please contact your finance center or submit a comment.

Starting in January 2010, over 100 employees from across the Dartmouth College campus were involved in an effort to improve our financial transaction processes and to reduce costs as part of the Strategic Budget Reduction and Investment effort. This cross institutional team reviewed the most common finance processes, including payroll, procurement, business expense reimbursements, financial reporting, and account reconciliation. The team considered the gaps, complications and redundancies in existing processes, evaluated what other institutions have done to improve business operations, and obtained guidance from external experts. The design alternative that the team recommended, and that Dartmouth implemented, included the redesign of certain processes, improvements in the use of technology, clarification of procedures, simplification of forms, and reorganization of small groups of staff into finance centers.
