Technology

  • Consider desktop computers that are more basic and will last longer than current standards machines; extend the terms of standards machines beyond 3.5 years.
  • Purchase all computers through the Standards Program, rather than purchasing directly from vendor and getting reimbursed.
  • Make capital investments in technology where there will be ultimate cost-savings, determined by careful cost-benefit analyses.
  • Improve the events calendar so that events can be directly imported into our personal calendars, and eliminate paper mailings for events.
  • Use a much open source software as possible.
  • Get rid of Blitz and move to an outsourced offering.
  • Stop offering student email accounts- they can use free external email of their own choosing.
  • Centralize software offerings to reduce redundant systems.
  • Use site licenses, rather than individual licenses, for more software.
  • Use mass media like Facebook, and email distribution lists, instead of posters for advertising events.
