WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE FUND?

A number of special funds, including the Educational Enrichment Fund, have been established to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need. Need is determined by the student’s financial aid package as follows:

  • Dartmouth scholarship included in financial aid award and
  • Federal Pell Grant included in the award or
  • International students with a student asset and parental contribution that does not exceed $5,273

These funds provide grants to students to allow them to pursue educational opportunities, that cannot be covered by financial aid, and that would be otherwise unavailable.
Funds cannot be used for LSA/FSP, exchange, and transfer term costs (including airfare) or for any other costs already included in the student’s cost of attendance. Funding is not available to students after they have graduated from the College.

WHAT DOES IT COVER?

In the past, the funds have provided grants to cover:

  • expenses associated with leave-term internships
  • fees for physical education and enrichment courses on campus
  • replacement of leave-term earnings while students were participating in educationally significant opportunities

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE?

Interested students should submit the application form by the deadline specified for each term (see gray box) in order to receive funding for the following term. A committee reviews requests, and students are notified approximately one week after the deadline each term. Late applications will not be considered for funding.  Requests regarding emergencies should be made directly to the Financial Aid Office.

CAN I APPLY MORE THAN ONCE?

Students are typically eligible to receive financial assistance from one of these special funds once during their Dartmouth career. Subsequent requests will be entertained in extreme circumstances.

HOW DO I APPLY?
