Film Studies Edinburgh FSP: Summer 2014

Edinburgh Summer '14 A Success!

In this Film & Media Studies FSP, 10 students learned cinematography from a professional cinematographer, Paul Gavin, who achieved wide recognition as a documentary cameraman, and learned Music Video Production from the company Forest of Black. The faculty and the mentor/tutor were absolutely spectacular.  One of the music videos, King Fabulous by Insect Heroes, can be seen here!

They also went to the Edinburgh International Film Festival, at which some students saw nearly 50 films (!) including several amazing German films, one of the foci of this year's efforts. Weekly salon discussions were held over lunch/dinner each week discussing the festival and big ideas in film. In addition to many outings at the Festival and at local arts venues, they did a group traditional dance Ceilidh, 1st August 2014 with staff and faculty, visited the Generations show: 40 years of Scottish art, went to Rosslyn Chapel, and much, much more.

Congratulations to All!

News from Edinburgh

June 24, 2014

Hello Everyone,

Greetings from Edinburgh! We're right in the middle of the Film Festival here and have seen a LOT of incredible stuff! The German cinema is really rocking the fest, omg. The weather until today has been hot and sunny. Today, it actually looks like Scotland again, ha ha!

We're all settled in and the team assembled to teach at the Screen Academy are top notch, as is the staff. Here is a picture of our 10 students on their way to a star-studded gala in the Museum of History! This weekend 2 of them will be on a radio show and this week they also start some production work.
