NFC 1 2012

NFC 1 went decently well, especially considering all the schools we fenced were varsity (except Tufts Men). The DCFC Men’s Team crushed Tufts 19-8, with heartbreaking losses to Brandeis 13-14 and powerhouse Boston College 12-15, while the DCFC Women’s Team had close matches with Brandeis and Tufts.

Men’s Foil scored a win against Tufts, Men’s Epee scored wins against Brandeis, BC, and Tufts, and Men’s Sabre scored wins against BC and Tufts. Women’s Foil scored decisive wins against Brandeis, Tufts, MIT, and BC.

Freshmen Adam Omar (Epee), Heather Szilagyi (Foil), and Julie Ivy (Foil) absolutely dominated the strip at the competition, with impressive victories against seasoned opponents, while Women’s Captain Gaby Stern ‘14 (Foil) continues to be Dartmouth’s heavy-hitter. Freshmen Alison Flint (Epee) and Emily Leede (Sabre), with only a few months of experience, posted a number of victories as well.

The next NFC is in two weeks at UMass Amherst mainly against club teams.
