Cluster Programs

Since its inception the East Wheelock Cluster has treated residents to a wide variety of programs featuring prominent thinkers, speakers and performers.

Former Irish President Mary Robinson, new correspondent Juan Williams, Nobel Laureate Thomas Cech, Choreographer Merce Cunningham, PBS health correspondent and Dartmouth trustee Susan Dentzer, former Smith College President Jill Ker Conway, Poet Tracy Morris, former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, activist William Sloane Coffin, astronaut Jay Buckey, author Dorothy Allison and Alyce Spotted-Bear, former tribal chairwoman of the Mandan, Kidatsa, and Arikara tribes of North Dakota, are but a few examples of Cluster guests.

Performances by David Newsam, the Qawwali Masters, the Shaker Singers, the Bread and Puppet Theater, the Flux Quartet, baroque violinist Andrew Manze with harpsichordist Richard Egarr, Sally Pinkas, and a variety of presentations by Dartmouth faculty have also been featured.

Events such as these, combined with regular Tea with the Dean, coffee houses, community dinners, real world career receptions, cluster community service projects, cluster formals, and trips to Boston, New York, and Montreal, provide an exciting range of opportunities for cluster residents and other Dartmouth students to broaden their learning experience outside the formal classroom.
