(1) On a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being unimportant and 5 being extremely important) indicate how important to medicine you believe human stem cell research using cell lines derived from embryonic or fetal cells will be

1
Unimportant

2

5
Extremely important

(2) As a matter of ethics, do you believe that the federal government should, by EXISTING or NEW law:

Yes

No

a. Prohibit ALL FEDERALLY FUNDED research using human stem cell lines derived from embryos?

b. Prohibit not only all FEDERALLY FUNDED research using human stem cell lines derived from frozen embryos but also all PRIVATELY FUNDED research of this sort?

c. Permit federal funding of research USING (but not DERIVING) human stem cell lines obtained from human embryos left over from infertility procedures and donated with the consent of the involved patients?

d. Permit federal funding of research both USING and DERIVING human stem cell lines obtained from human embryos left over from infertility procedures and donated with the consent of the involved patients?

e. Permit federal funding of research if human stem cell lines obtained from frozen human embryos were EXPRESSLY CREATED by PRIVATELY funded researchers for this purpose?

(3) As a matter of ethics, do you believe that the federal government should, by EXISTING or NEW law, permit FEDERAL FUNDING only of research on adult stem cells, i.e. NOT those derived from embryonic or fetal tissue.
