Accommodations
The Hanover
Inn is an historic establishment, located on the Green, with easy
access to restaurants, shops and the Dartmouth campus. 603-643-4300. Rates
are $266 to $310 per night.
Other hotels

Days Inn, Route 120, Lebanon, NH (approximately 5 miles
from campus) 603-448-5070. Single rooms - $71.20 per night
Trumbull House Bed and Breakfast
, 40 Etna Road, Hanover (approximately 4 miles from campus) 603-643-2370.
Prices range from $165 to $300 per night.
Residence Inn by Marriot, 32 Centerra Parkway, Lebanon,
NH 603-643-4511 (1.5 miles to campus). Rooms range from $179 to $219 per
night.
The Chieftain Motor Inn, Route 10N, Hanover (2 miles
from campus) located on the Connecticut River. The Inn has canoes available
for guest use. 603-643-2550; rooms range from $125 to $150 per night.
The Norwich Inn, Main Street, Norwich, VT 802-649-1143
(1 mile to campus). This is a lovely old Inn, situated directly across
the Connecticut River from the Dartmouth campus. The main Inn has rooms
starting at $129 per night; additional rooms in the rear of the Inn start
at $79 per night.
Super 8 Motel, Route 5 South, White River Junction, VT
802-295-7577 (approximately 9 miles from campus). Rooms are $54.88 single
occupancy.

Transportation
Hanover, New
Hampshire is located in the Upper Valley of New England, a beautiful,
but semi-remote part of the state. The airport that is most frequently
used is the Manchester, NH airport
. Manchester serves as a hub for Southwest airlines and has very reasonable
fares. Upon arriving at Manchester it is an hour and a half drive to Dartmouth.
Car rentals are available at the airport, or, if you prefer, there is
a bus line that makes regular
trips between the airport and the college.
Boston's
Logan Airport is another option for travel. It is approximately 2
½ hours from Hanover, either by rental car, or the Dartmouth
Coach bus line .
Other airports
include: Burlington,
Vt (approximately 2 ½ hours from Hanover), Hartford,
CT (approximately 3 hours) or, if money is not a serious concern,
a small airport in Lebanon,
NH (approximately 10 miles from campus).
Driving
Directions:
From
the Boston area (about 2.5 hours):
- Take I-93 north to I-89 north at Concord, N.H.
- Get off I-89 at Exit 18 in Lebanon, N.H. onto Route 120. (A sign
says that it is the exit for Dartmouth College.)
- Bear right off the exit, heading north on Rt.120 into Hanover.
- 4.1 miles from the exit, Rt. 120 forks at a traffic light.
- Bear right at the fork, following Rt. 120 one-half mile on South
Park Street to the second traffic light.
- Turn left at the light, onto East Wheelock Street.
- Follow East Wheelock for two-tenths of a mile, when you will come
to the Hopkins Center (left) and the Dartmouth Green (right).
From
Burlington, VT (about 1.5 hours):
- Take I-89 south to I-91 north in White River Junction, VT.
- See following description.
From
New York (about 5 hours), southern New England and points south:
- Take I-91 north to exit 13 at Norwich, VT.
- Bear right off the exit, across the Ledyard Bridge spanning the
Connecticut River.
- Continue up the hill (West Wheelock Street) to the top of the hill
and to the traffic light in the center of town - nine-tenths of a
mile from the interstate exit. To your left at the light is the Dartmouth
Green; to your right is the Hanover Inn.
From Manchester Airport
to Hanover , NH (about 1 hour and 30 minutes):

Head Northwest on Airport
Road toward Brown Ave. /RT-3A, continue straight onto Brown Avenue
/RT-3A for 1.4 miles.

Turn right to merge onto
I-293 S/RT-101 E toward Concord/Salem/Portsmouth for 2.0 miles.

Take the I93 N/RT-101 E
exit toward Concord/Portsmouth and merge onto I-93 North for 15.3
miles (this is a partial toll road, $.75 toll).

Take the I-89 North exit
toward Lebanon/White River Jct VT for 0.5 mile (keep right at the
fork to continue toward I-89 North), merge onto I-89 North for 56.2
miles.

Take exit 18 for RT-120
toward Lebanon/Hanover, keep right at the fork, follow signs for
RT-120 N/Hanover and merge onto RT-120 for 4.7 miles.

Turn left at RT-10/ East
Wheelock St. (0.3 miles), turn right at College Street (0.1 miles),
left at Maynard St. , and left onto North Main Street .
Parking
is at a premium on campus, but there are 3 parking spaces in front of
Kemeny/Haldeman Centers Building. Other possibilities for available
parking space are in the lot at the Dartmouth Medical School Admissions
office on Maynard Street or in the Ledyard lot located on Dewey Field
Road, which is a left turn at the traffic light on College Street (just
past the Medical School).
