Organized by the International Association of Biological and EPR Radiation Dosimetry (IABERD), EPR BioDose 2015 will include meetings of the “Joint International Symposia on EPR Dosimetry and Dating”, the “International Conference on Biodosimetry”, 2nd IES Symposium and the “Annual CMCR Open Workshop". The conference will take place at Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH, USA).
The timing and venue have been chosen to provide both a scientifically excellent program and an opportunity to see one of the most glorious sights in the world — the Fall Foliage Season in Northern New England. There will be a strong emphasis on formal and informal discussion with all meals and social events included in the registration fee to facilitate discussions and interactions.
Scientific Aspects of the Conference
For the last three
meetings, EPR BioDose has been composed of two international conferences: the
International Symposium on EPR Dosimetry and Dating and the International
Conference on Biodosimetry. This year we will add a significant related topic,
the development of radiation mitigators, which previously has been organized as
a workshop of the CMCR programs (Centers for Medical Countermeasures against
Radiation, supported by NIH). Topics of the 2015 BioDose conference will focus
on medical responses to events in which large numbers of individuals may be
exposed to significant levels of ionizing radiation, with topics including
biodosimetry, radiation mitigators, model systems to develop countermeasures,
new data from different exposure events, and the implication of these methods in
a radiological emergency or in terrorist attack scenarios. This meeting has
also been designated as the 2nd IES Symposium. We will continue
to include related topics including other dosimetry and EPR applications,
related EPR studies, and EPR based dating. An effort will be made to keep a
balance between basic research, applied research, and expertise in planning for
Satellite meetings also will occur before or after the meeting, with details to be posted soon. Currently four such meetings are planned.
1. The 4th Coordination Meeting of the WHO BioDoseNet Member Laboratories. (Zhanat Carr (World Health Organization), coordinating, by invitation only)
2. ISO - EPR Working Group. (Members and invitees only, Paola Fattibene (Istituto Superiore di Sanita), coordinating)
3. Meeting of ISO Committee WG18: Biodosimetry. (Members and invitees only, Ruth Wilkins (Health Canada), coordinating)
4. EPR School (tentative, to be organized by François Trompier (Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire))
Important Dates and other information
10 February 2015 Registration opens
01 September 2015 Deadline for late breaking abstracts
4-8 October 2015 Conference - Welcoming reception evening of October 4
The format of the meeting will include plenary talks in selected topics of interest, oral presentations, and poster presentations. The oral presentations and the poster presentations will be selected on the basis of the reviews by the scientific council from the submitted abstracts. Posters will be a very important part of the meeting and the submissions selected for presentation as posters will include presenting a brief oral summary on the day that the poster is featured. Posters will be available to view during the entire period of the meeting. There will also be a technical exhibition.
Selected papers will be published in an International peer-reviewed journal(s). All manuscripts will be reviewed and will need to meet the usual acceptance criteria. Instructions for manuscripts available on the conference website.
