Bio: Peter Katona is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. He specializes in infectious diseases and has taught courses at the university on terrorism. In addition, he has worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as an epidemic intelligence service officer, and for Apria Healthcare as corporate medical director. He has appointments at Louisiana State University and the Los Angeles County Emergency Management Services (EMS) Agency, and is a consultant to the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS), where he worked on the development of the Health Alert Network, an information management system. He is a member of numerous committees and organizations, including the Los Angeles County DHS Bioterrorism Advisory Committee, the Los Angeles County Task Force on Preparedness for Bioterrorism, the Hospital Association of Southern California, the EMS Task Force on Hospital Bioterrorism Preparedness and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. He is founder and president of the nonprofit Center of Medical Multimedia Education Technology, the author of many articles and the editor of a book on a global networked response to terrorism.
