Assistance Cooperative (NHC3UA)
The University of New Hampshire (UNH) and Dartmouth College (DC) have joined together to assist one another in the development of their occupational and environmental health and safety programs. UNH and DC have also joined to assist other educational institutions in New Hampshire with their health and safety programs by providing information, resources and assistance whenever possible.
The long-term goal of the NHC3UA is to develop a cohesive, integrated Environmental Management System (EMS) for all the colleges and universities throughout New Hampshire using a common set of goals and objectives. Our stakeholders, the member institutions of the New Hampshire College and University Council (NHCUC), could then use the EMS as a model and refine, adopt and integrate the elements of the EMS program for their individual campuses. Key aspects of the EMS would include hazardous materials source reduction and substitution, emergency planning, transportation demand management, sustainable purchasing guidelines and strategies, environmental compliance, food safety and integrated solid waste management.
UNH and DC acknowledge and thank the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services for the partnership developed together to address the unique needs of higher education in New Hampshire.
