The EDPA program is an integral component of Dartmouth's on-campus outreach. Two terms a year 25 students participate in an 10 week training covering such varied topics as the physical and psychological impacts, to the roles media and socialization play regarding eating disorders. Emphasis is given on listening and advising skills so that students will be adequately prepared to serve as a resource and referral-point for their peers. (See a copy of the job description.)
Trained EDPA's who wish to serve as an active peer resource post biographical and contact information on the EDPA Blitzmail Bulletin. All interactions with EDPA's are considered confidential and are concerned with helping students help themselves. EDPA's are required to report contacts with students who seek their guidance. Download the EDPA Contact Report form (MS Word document, 39 KB). The form should be filled out completely and sent to the EDPA email account.
If you are interested in applying for EDPA training, download the EDPA Application (43KB MS Word Document), complete both pages and submit it to Kari Jo Grant via email by the deadline noted. The application deadline for Summer 2008 training is Tuesday, June 3, 2008. Summer trainings will take place in a location to be announced on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the 2A class period. The first date of training will be July 1st and continue each week until August 7th. A minimum of 10 students are needed for training to occur. If you are unable to participate in this training, the next scheduled EDPA Training is in Winter ’09.
The EDPA trainings for 2008-09 will take place during the Winter Term 2009 and Summer Term 2009. If you are interested in participating in a future training, please blitz “EDPA” and we will place your name on an interest list.
