Dartmouth Lessons

Lesson Packages

Dartmouth students will be placed according to their experience level and class and work schedule. You may ride for PE credit or for recreational activity.

Times:

Lessons are offered on weekdays. Lessons are arranged through PE registration at the beginning of each term. Lessons are offered all terms, including Winter and Summer.

Levels

Beginner
Rider has little or no experience on a horse.

Novice
Rider knows how to tack up and can walk and post trot.

Advanced Novice
Rider knows how to tack up and can walk, trot and canter and jump small jumps.

Intermediate
Rider has basic knowledge of the walk, trot and canter and has started jumping courses.

Advanced
For the more accomplished rider- knows lateral work on flat and can safely jump a 3' course.

Polocrosse
A version of mounted lacrosse, polocrosse is offered as PE credit or just for fun.

Riding Lessons:

Once per week...$220/ term Twice per week...$430/ term

Polocrosse:

Once per week....$220/term

Transportation: Once per week...$30 /term Twice per week...$40/term

Fees can be billed to your account (if taken for PE credit), charged to your DASH, or paid the first day of class. Once you sign up for classes, you are responsible for payment (only exception-medical excuse). (This is for an 8-week term. Fees are reduced for the winter term, which is 6 lessons.)

Dress

An ASTM/SEI approved safety helmet with harness is mandatory for all students. Boots and breeches are preferred, but jeans and a hard shoe with a heel are acceptable for the beginner rider. Sneakers are not allowed.
