Dartmouth Riding Center @ the Morton Farm

Friends of Morton Farm

The Friends of Morton Farm was formed by a group of alumni who enjoyed riding at Dartmouth. Non-alumni users and supporters of Morton Farm are involved as well. The aims of the Friends are to help Morton Farm in these ways:

If you are interested in becoming a Friend of Morton Farm or wish to make a tax deductible donation, please contact Sally Batton at 603-646-3508.

The Helen Naylor Equestrian Fund

It is our pleasure to announce the generous gift presented by Helen Naylor to the Dartmouth Equestrian program. Helen’s late husband, George Martin Naylor, Jr. graduated from Dartmouth in the Class of ’29. Helen is a former member of the Norfolk Hunt and a current member of the North Country Hounds in Hartland, VT. Helen leased her beloved horse, Maestro, to the Dartmouth program in early summer ’04 and decided to create the fund after she saw the attention Maestro was receiving by the students in the program. Helen’s gift has been set up specifically for Dartmouth students who cannot afford the costs of participating in the lesson program.

The Helen Naylor Equestrian Fund will serve the program into the future by funding students who otherwise may not be able to ride!

It is Helen’s hope to increase her gift for years to come.

Challenge Program

Yes, the Dartmouth Challenge program for mentally challenged riders is alive and well! The program runs once/week from May through November.

This program was started by Bob Hustek, '51, who appealed to his classmates and raised money to fund the program for the last seven years! Two riders, Kerry and Michael, have been in the program since it's inception and Beth Barna continues to teach the weekly class. We also have a continually changing army of volunteers who help make this program a success.

We hope to continue to run this program at no cost to the riders by donations earmarked for the "Challenge Program".

Morton Farm Wish List

Through the years, Dartmouth Riding Program alums and other friends have asked if there are any specific projects that they can fund for Morton Farm. The following is a wish/dream list which is followed by a "practical equipment" list of actual items that we need. Items on both lists are tax-deductible (but may not receive Alumni Fund credit). In past years, the Friends of Morton Farm have helped fund a number of projects: The George and Nora Graham dressage arena, hot water and horse vacuum in the washstall, and, of course, the office/tack room addition including "Oscar's Room", funded by Gordon and Virginia Williamson.
