Boarders at Morton Farm come from both the community at large and Dartmouth college students. First year students are discouraged from bringing their horse since cars aren't allowed the first year and getting to the barn can be difficult. Approximately half of the 33 stalls are for boarding.
Board is $520 per month. Included in board is feeding and watering twice daily and daily stall cleaning and turn out. Morton Farm has many acres of pasture as well as two paddocks available if turnout needs to be limited.
Facilities include three barns, an indoor arena, outdoor jumping ring, dressage ring, cross-country course (through Novice level), miles of trails and acres of pasture.
The three barns are located at the center of the facilities. The main barn has 18 stalls attached to the indoor arena. This barn also contains the school horse tack room, boarder tack room, bathroom, lounge and office. The middle barn consists of 10 stalls (8 horse size and 2 pony size), a boarder tack room and wash stall with hot water. The smallest barn has six stalls and houses the beginner school horses. Additional tack storage is available in the "chicken coop" off the equipment shed.
Boarders are welcome to take lessons with the many Morton Farm instructors, or truck to other trainers. They are also encouraged to enter the shows held each season at the farm. Boarders are often found assisting at shows and volunteering at the handicapped riding camp and lesson program. They are an integral part of Morton Farm.
A farrier, Cedric Fisk, is available weekly, usually Fridays. Morton Farm uses Riverbend Veterinary Clinic, but boarders are welcome to use their own choice of vet or farrier.
Boarders may be at the barn during normal business hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm. If you need to be here earlier or later please talk with Sally Batton.
Lessons do have the right of way in the arenas, but boarders are welcome to use the rings during lesson times. Please check the lesson schedule to see when the arena is available or how many students may be in the arena at the time.
