International Studies Minor

The International Studies minor was developed by Arts & Science faculty in conjunction with the Dickey Center for International Understanding.  The vital international issues of the day - war, environmental change, global health and economic crises, poverty, terrorism and violence - transcend boundaries by their very nature, and as such merit cross-disciplinary as well as cross-divisional inquiry. The new minor will enable students to draw upon the insights of the sciences, social sciences and humanities to understand and resolve far-ranging global problems.

Students will be required to take a total of six courses - four multidisciplinary courses focusing on important international issues, one advanced language course and one elective.  This minor becomes effective with the class of 2010.

The International Studies Initiative was made possible by generous gifts from Karen and Joseph Niehaus, Lori and Christopher Niehaus, and an anonymous donor, and funding from the Dickey Center for International Understanding.
