 Research is the backbone of scholarly life. It is the structure that connects and controls all parts of the academic enterprise.
We are fortunate at Dartmouth in that we have an outstanding faculty who are committed to their research and the insights it brings to all parts of their professional life. They understand that without an exciting research agenda, scholarship and teaching become stale and repetitive. Conversely, lively curiosity and probing intellect lead fields in new directions and push students to think beyond the textbook.
