Connecticut River Waterfront
The Connecticut River Waterfront is a busy place throughout the warm-weather months, providing canoeing and kayaking for the community as well as a swimming area for Dartmouth students.
Canoes and kayaks are available for rent at the Ledyard Canoe Club, up-river from the Ledyard Bridge (past the boathouse and the swim docks). The Club offers lessons in the use of this equipment (for PE credit or just for recreation) and schedules a series of competitive and recreational paddling events. Swim docks are provided (for enrolled Dartmouth students) along the river just north of Ledyard Bridge. Lifeguards are on duty daily during the summer term, weather permitting. Swimming outside the designated area or when lifeguards are not on duty is prohibited, as is jumping or diving off Ledyard Bridge (extremely dangerous due to recent construction debris).
