About the points calculations:
Points are based on the number of vertical feet gained or lost on a certain trip. Depending on the sport pursued, the number of feet will have different point values, as described below:
Hiking:
Add up the total vertical traversed on the hike. Divide by three if you're doing trailwork; divide by four if it's a regular hiking trip. This is your point value!
Climbing:
This is probably the most complicated. You get a different multiplier depending on how hard the climb is:
- 5.0-5.5 --> x1
- 5.6-5.7 --> x2
- 5.8-5.9 --> x3
- 5.10 -----> x4
- 5.11 -----> x5
- 5.12 -----> x6
- 5.13 -----> x7
- 5.14 -----> x8
Kayaking:
Multiply the vertical feet of your run by five, regardless of difficulty.
Mountain Biking:
We're working on a system of points for mountan biking, but for now, add up the total vertical feet you ride, and multiply by 3/4 (0.75). We'll see how that works...
