DIFFICULT 30 mile ride (1.5 hours)
Here’s one that lies completely within the borders of New Hampshire. There are a couple of ways to do this, but one of them involves an ascent up East Wheelock. Since this is just not that fun I’ll detail the other way. Follow Lebanon Street out of town until it turns into Route 120. After about three-quarters of a mile, turn left at a stoplight onto Greensboro Road (just like the Balch Hill Descent). Then, take another left onto Great Hollow Road. From there it’s a right onto Ruddsboro Road. Then, a right onto Route 4, followed by a left onto route 4A. At Crystal Lake road, take another left. Then, take a left onto Kluge Road and a left onto Shaker Hill Road. Follow this with a left onto Route 4 and a right back onto Ruddsboro Road. After a spot of climbing, turn right onto Two-Mile Road, left onto Rennie Road and left on Route 10 back into Hanover. If you’re confused by this jumble of directions, look at the map before you set out. It’s easy to get lost back there by Hanover Center if you aren’t careful.
