Safety
A detailed safety protocol has been developed and is available on request. As in any activity of this type, there is some risk, and we will require that the attached waiver be signed and returned. However for context, this workshop is under the direction of Josh Jackson, who has been instructing and leading workshops like this for 13 years without a serious injury. The other instructors have similar long experience in safe timber-framing practice and instruction. The key to safety is a focused, progressive approach that starts at the outset. Essential tool and safety skills are taught on Day 1, and skills are developed progressively thereafter. Therefore, participants should expect to be there for consecutive days; absence of more than half a day would create an unsafe situation and your participation may be curtailed.
Cost
The Class of 1984, which is sponsoring this project, is subsidizing meals and lodging, so that this workshop is free for students, and $100 for all others, including all meals and lodging. Dartmouth Outdoor Programs is covering the cost of instruction. If you feel that this will be significant professional development for you, we encourage a tax-deductible donation of $300 toward the cost of instruction. In order to take advantage of the free program for Dartmouth Students, commitment to attend the entire workshop must be made.

Fall Work Weekends
Can't make it for this workshop? We will have volunteer work weekends during the fall to close in the frame and finish up the details. September 25-26, October 16-17, and October 30-Nov. 1 (closing weekend.) These are free for your hard work. To register for these, please call the Lodge, at 603-764-5858 and mention that you are coming for the Work Weekend. Spaces have been set aside. In this way we should get the place fully enclosed by the end of the fall; additional work will be organized in the spring.
