Hannah Thompson Croasdale

Hannah Croasdale's research concerned algae, espacially freshwater algae. She was a renowned collector and investigator of algae from around the world. Her extensive description and classifications of freshwater algae made her an expert on their distribution and variation. A bibliography of her publications is given below.

Among Hannah Croasdale's many talents was a wonderful ability to illustrate the algae she was studying or found in her field work. Here are several examples of Hannah's illustrations (beware these are large picture files):

  1. Staurastrum Sexangulare
  2. Staurastrum rosei Playf. v. novizelandica Thom.
  3. Staurastrum sagittarium
  4. Sphaerozosma vertebratum
  5. Groenbladia neglecta Teiling
