Paula is Dartmouth Formula Racing's first ever totally electric vehicle. The decision to build an EV racer was based on the inefficiencies and unnessecary complications caused by the parallel hybrid system in previous years. In an attempt to lose some weight and gain cleanliness, power, and overall efficiency, the team converted Ellie's chassis to house battery packs and a larger electric motor, instead of an IC engine. There were also notable mechanical improvements on the braking system.

Converting the car to an EV was no small task, and after many long hours throughout the winter and spring, the hard work paid off. The team won the Electric vehicle competition at Formula Hybrid. They were also awarded the IEEE Excellence in EV Engineering Award, and third place for the Ford Efficiency Award.
