Moved by Dartmouth’s belief that entrepreneurial skills can be learned, the DEN was founded in late 2000 to foster a spirit of innovation by helping people in the Dartmouth community learn about and implement entrepreneurship.

Drawing on an extensive pool of expertise, the Network offers a wide range of services to the Dartmouth community - from strategic advice, to one-on-one mentoring, to educational programs, to networking opportunities, to infrastructure, and office and lab space.

Dartmouth has a strong history of entrepreneurship which is celebrated by many Dartmouth firsts—from the foundation of the world’s oil industry and the invention of BASIC to the more whimsical inventions of the games Twister, Cranium, and the Nerf Ball.

Since January 2001, the office has provided support for over 300 projects and companies.
