The Sexual Abuse Awareness Program (SAAP), under the joint supervision of the Health Resources Program and the Center for Women and Gender, educates students at Dartmouth about healthy & unhealthy relationships, gender related issues, sexual/relationship abuse issues (including healthy/respectful communication, consent, sexism, date rape, harassment, and the intersections of sexual abuse). The program provides workshops and presentations for residence halls, CFS houses, student organizations, faculty, and staff. Finally, the Coordinator of the SAAP serves as a resource for students dealing with specific incidents of sexual and/or relationship abuse. The Coordinator provides initial support and referral to any student who has survived sexual/relationship abuse, during college or in the past.

The Coordinator advises the survivor regarding the student's choices for dealing with sexual or relationship abuse, and supports her/him through medical, reporting, or counseling options that s/he may choose. Sexual Abuse Peer Advisors (SAPA) are a group of Dartmouth students who have been trained to provide peer support and to respond to their peers' questions about medical, emotional, academic, counseling, reporting and other issues surrounding sexual and relationship abuse. Students can access the Sexual Abuse Peer Advisors list on the Blitz Bulletin. The Bulletin provides a brief explanation of the program, as well as the names and short biographies of the active peer advisors for each term.

For information about educational programs concerning healthy/unhealthy relationships/ relationship abuse, and/or sexual abuse awareness call the Coordinator of the Sexual Abuse Awareness Program at 646-9430/646-3456. See also: Sexual Abuse, and Standards of Conduct II, and Conduct III.

MAV is a student-led organization aimed at prevention and education. MAV shares information with peers about all forms of violence, especially violence against women. MAV is eager to work with Greek letter organizations, ORL: Affinity houses and residence halls, athletic teams, performance groups, and all organizations that have an impact on peers. MAV seeks to change the social norms at Dartmouth and embrace an environment free from sexual and relationship abuse.
