DCLU events for Summer 2003:

  • General meetings every Tuesday, 7:00pm in Morrison Commons, Rockefeller Center.

  • Discussion with Marcia Kelly, Director of the Undergraduate Judicial Affairs Office, on COS regulations, Tuesday, August 5th at 7:00 p.m. in Morrison Commons, Rockefeller Center.

  • Patriot Act tabling, Thursday, July 31st, to Friday, August 1st, Novack Cafe, Berry Library.

  • Lecture on "ACLU, Civil Liberties and the Patriot Act" by Claire Ebel, Executive Director, New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union, Monday August 11th, 4-5pm, place Rockefeller 2.

  • Civil Liberties BBQ on Monday August 11th, 5-7pm, Collis Porch.

DCLU Events, Fall 2003:

  • Meeting with Larry Levine, Director of Dartmouth Computing, regarding privacy issues, on Thursday, November 13th, 8:00pm, Collis 212.

  • General Meeting, Thursday, November 13th, 7:30pm, Collis 218.

  • Meeting with Harry Kinne, Head of Dartmouth Safety and Security and College Proctor, Friday, November 11th, 11:00am, regarding allegations of use of excessive force by security and Hanover Police officers and video surveillance at football games.

  • Meeting with Dean Jim Larimore, Dean of the College, Wednesday, November 9th, 3:30pm, regarding allegations of use of excessive force by security and Hanover Police officers, video surveillance at football games and other issues..

  • General meeting on Tuesday, October 14th has been cancelled - we will meet on the 21st. Instead, we urge members to attend the John Edwards event at 8:00pm, Top of the Hop, and ask him about his stance on civil liberties, individual rights, and so on.

  • General meetings will be held Tuesdays at 8:00pm in Silsby 113 this term, beginning October 21st. The Executive Board will meet at 7:30pm on Tuesdays - DCLU members are welcome to attend!

  • DCLU Open House

    • Come find out what the DCLU is all about!

    • Where: Silsby 113, which is beside the Rockefeller Center.

  • Activities Fair, Tuesday, September 30th, 5-8pm, Collis Commonground.

  • Executive Council meeting, Saturday, September 27, 5:00pm, Rockefeller Center. Everyone is welcome to attend.

  • "Free Speech on College Campuses: Before and After September 11," Lecture by Harvey Silverglate, lawyer and civil rights activist, on October 7th, 2003, 4:30pm- 6:30pm, Dartmouth Hall 105.

  • "Protecting Civil Liberties and National Security After 9/11: How to Strike a Balance," Lecture by Nadine Strossen, President of the ACLU and Professor at New York Law School, on October 28th, 2003, 4:00pm [CORRECTED TIME], Dartmouth Hall 105. Co-Sponsored by the Rockefeller Center.

  • "Civil Liberties in a Time of Terrorism," a dinner and discussion with Professor David Shipler '64, Montgomery Fellow, November 11th, 2003, 6:00pm, Montgomery House. Attendance will be by invitation only - if you would like to attend, please email DCLU as soon as possible.

DCLU Events and Activities, Winter 2003:

  • Lecture by Diann Rust-Tierney, ACLU prison project, discussion on the death penalty, February 6, 5-6 pm in Dartmouth Hall, cosponsored with the Greens, Amnesty and Rockefeller Center.

  • DCLU tabling at Collis, March 1.

  • Discussion with Brian Kelly, U.S. Assistant Attorney General, Boston, regarding the USA PATRIOT Act, March 2, 4-5pm, Tindle Lounge.

  • Student Bill of Rights with the Student Assembly.

  • Student Rights Cards with Student Assembly.

  • Anti-USA PATRIOT Act Resolution for Dartmouth faculty.
