The general membership of the Dartmouth College Library Staff Association voted in July 1998 to establish the following guidelines for contributing towards a gift or party for a departing employee:
The DCLSA will contribute based on a sliding scale for any retiring or employee departing the library. It is the responsibility of the employee's department liaison to contact the library staff association and make the necessary arrangements. Furthermore, if a party is given it is the responsibility of the department to plan and host it.

| 6 - 10 | $50 |
| 11 - 15 | $75 |
| 16 - 20 | $100 |
| 21+ | $100. + 10.00 for every additional year not to exceed $200 total |
