Volunteer Support
All Dartmouth-associated persons who are committed to addressing substance
use, addiction, and recovery issues in society are invited to join DCARE in its
mission. Please contact DCARE at (603) 646-9215 or dcare@dartmouth.edu to learn how you can
volunteer to make a difference.
Fiscal Support
DCARE was initially supported by three years of seed funding from
Dartmouth's Office of the Provost. The success of DCARE and its programs is
founded upon this commitment from the Office of the Provost and the ongoing
dedication and service of Dartmouth Alumni and other volunteers. We are
immeasurably grateful. We now rely on additional financial support from
Alumni and others that makes possible the continuation of the Center's
important work.
Experts agree that the development of model alcohol, tobacco and other drug
programs requires a long-term investment, implementation of evidence-based and
scientifically evaluated programs, and support from key leadership.
DCARE associates continue to seek federal and private foundation funding to
support its service and research programs in alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
While these grants will support specific projects, they will not support the
infrastructure of the Center itself. Most funding agencies are attracted by
research investigations. DCARE, distinct from other academic substance-related
centers, is instead primarily focused on services and programs offering direct
help to those who need it.
To support these programs and services and ensure the continued viability of
DCARE by direct financial support, contributions can be made to:
Dartmouth Center on Addiction, Recovery and Education
7764 Parker House
Hanover, New Hampshire 03755
(603) 646-9215
Contributions may also be submitted to:
Mary-Ella Zietz, Assistant Provost
6004 Parkhurst Hall, Room 204
Hanover, New Hampshire, 03755
(603) 646-2404
You can also support these programs and services with contributions of time
through assistance in a variety of ways, including mentoring, translating,
researching and writing. For more information on this, contact Mary.F.Batchelder@Dartmouth.EDU
or call (603) 646-9215.
All donations are welcome and accepted with gratitude. Questions about
endowments or funding specific projects or initiatives can be directed to Dr.
Savage (at DCARE: 603-646-9215 or Seddon.R.Savage@Dartmouth.EDU).
