Paul G. Gorman, Ed.D., is the Director of the West Institute at the New Hampshire - Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center. The West Institute is dedicated to developing and evaluating implementation strategies for evidenced-based practices for people with severe mental illness. His career spans thirty years of involvement in management of mental health systems in both the public and private sector. Dr. Gorman was the Director of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services for the state of New Hampshire, and served as the Superintendent of New Hampshire Hospital (NHH), the single public psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire. He was the chief operating officer of West Central Behavioral Health, the community mental health center associated with the Dartmouth - Hitchcock Medical Center. He also was the Director of Out-Patient Services for the Human Resource Institute, a private psychiatric hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Gorman has served on a number of boards, including the board of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors' Research Institute.
